Overview

Fantasy Lit Lens is a Chrome extension that shows a short reference card about a fantasy literature work or author when you select its name on any webpage, and a searchable timeline of the genre's lineage in its popup. This policy explains what data the extension does — and does not — handle.

Data we collect

None. Fantasy Lit Lens does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data, browsing history, or page content. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no servers involved — the entire reference dataset ships inside the extension package and is read locally on your device.

What the extension can see

When you select text on a page, the extension's content script checks that selection, locally in your browser, against its bundled dataset of fantasy literature titles and author names. If there's a match, it displays a small card. That check never leaves your device, and the selected text is never logged, stored, or sent anywhere.

Why the extension requests broad page access

Fantasy Lit Lens requests permission to run on all websites (<all_urls>) for one reason only: to detect text you select, on whichever page you happen to be reading. It does not read page content beyond your active text selection, does not modify pages, and does not track your browsing.

Language preference storage

Fantasy Lit Lens is available in English and Turkish. It automatically matches your browser's language on first use, and you can switch it manually from the popup at any time. That single choice — the word "en" or "tr" — is saved using Chrome's built-in sync storage (chrome.storage.sync) so it's remembered across your sessions and devices. No other value is stored, and nothing else about you is recorded alongside it.

Third parties

Fantasy Lit Lens does not use any third-party scripts, analytics services, advertising networks, or trackers of any kind.

Children's privacy

The extension does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version adds an optional online feature — this page will be updated and the "last updated" date above will reflect that change.
